Date of birth : 23/06/1988
Who is he? Austrian champion in 2016 and runner-up to Volkswagen Polo R World Rally Car driver Raimund Baumschlager last season, Neubauer is back in the ERC in 2018 five years on from his last major foray in the championship when he took part in the 2WD division as a relative novice.
Power upgrade: Now armed with considerably more experience and an all-new Ford Fiesta R5 built by M-Sport and prepared by ZM-Racing, Neubauer is extending his long-term partnership with co-driver and fellow Austrian Bernhard Ettel.
Tough start: Neubauer’s ERC return didn’t go to plan with a car-wrecking crash on the Azores Airlines Rallye. He returned with a new Fiesta for Rally Islas Canarias only for set-up issues and a double puncture to wreck his hopes.
Winning return: He will be back on ERC duty on Barum Czech Rally Zlín a double winner having won two events in his homeland – including Rallye Weiz – since his last ERC appearance in Gran Canaria.
Fourth time lucky? Neubauer made his fourth start in Zlín still chasing a finish on the sealed-surface event following a trio of retirements due to mechanical issues, but his luck didn’t improve when he retired with another mechanical failure on the first day.
