ERC graduates magic on the Monte
Several FIA European Rally Championship graduates – including standout event winners Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson – excelled on last week’s Rallye Monte-Carlo.
As the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship got under way amid challenging weather and stage conditions and epic action, several drivers with ERC experience came to the fore. Here are five who did exactly that.
Roberto Daprà: Finished runner-up in WRC2 after a fine performance alongside co-driver Luca Guglielmetti. The Italians won the ERC4 title in 2023.
Chris Ingram: Back in the WRC after more than a year away, the 2019 ERC champion ran in the WRC2 top three before completing the top five after tyre issues.
Hayden Paddon: Although his costly off on SS12 ruled out a top 10 finish, the two-time ERC title winner set eight top 10 stage times as he returned to the WRC’s top level for the first time since 2018 with the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team.
Yohan Rossel: The Frenchman, who made selected ERC appearances in 2019, produced an epic comeback to top the Super Sunday order aboard his Lancia Ypsilon Rally2 HF and claim the FORUM8 award for the most WRC2 stage wins – seven in total.
Oliver Solberg: With Elliott Edmondson co-driving, the 2020 Junior ERC1 champion took the lead on stage two and never looked back to become the event’s youngest winner aboard his Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT-entered GR Yaris Rally1.
