Even though it was unable to add to its tally of 163 points, its commanding advantage of 54 points ahead of TRT Rally Team remained intact with 2019 ERC champion Chris Ingram proving to be the squad’s best performer on his return to action after a nine-month layoff.
“We were all pretty unlucky on the first stage on Saturday, picking up some damage, but we managed to survive and complete the rally to learn the tyres, the car and, most importantly, I could get sharp again and get some seat-time after nine months away,” Ingram said. “Such a long period without driving is always tough at this level, so the main thing was to get back in rhythm.”
Miklós Csomós and Simone Tempestini retired their respective Team MRF Tyres-entered Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 cars following separate offs on Saturday morning’s opening stage.
