The Hungarian company, established 17 years ago by Zsolt Matics, has provided its services to Junior ERC competitors since 2024 through partnership agreements with Hankook Tire and WRC Promoter GmbH.
Ahead of Shakedown for Barum Czech Rally Zlín earlier today, Fit4Race performance coach Paolo Rubini put several Junior ERC crews through their paces, as he explained: “This morning we were focusing on reaction and cognitive exercises to prepare the driver and co-driver to be able to adapt in the best way and the fast way possible for the stages.
“We were using easy tools, for example tennis balls, we do some exercises of catch and throw but with different tasks. With lights we work in a different way because we use feet and hands, different tasks because for the feet it was just to touch the light on the ground and I put an additional task to work with the opposite part of your body compared to the side of the light or with the hand they have to recognise the right colour in the middle of other colours. Like this you can add the task to use the right hand or the left hand instead of the side of the light but you also have to be focused to choose the right way as in the stages.
“For sure they can use these exercises every morning and it should be nice because they arrive super-awake on the stages or on the shakedown and it’s good for them to arrive in this situation. The warm-up is the boring part of the activities you have to do, but if you find a way for a fun warm-up it’s much better for them.”
As well as the on-site support service, Fit4Race operates a specialist performance centre in Budapest, which ERC drivers can pay to enrol in by contacting Fit4Race directly.
Fit4Race also works with professional sports teams in football, water polo and ice hockey, among other sports.
