Korhola keen for ERC as busy schedule with MS Munaretto revealed
MS Munaretto has described re-signing Benjamin Korhola as a “challenge reignited stronger than ever”.
The Finn, 22, will mount his first major FIA European Rally Championship bid alongside Campionato Italiano Assoluto Rally Sparco (CIAR) and Campionato Italiano Rally Terra (CIRT) campaigns.
With support from Pacco Motorsport, Korhola will compete in a MS Munaretto-run Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
“We are pleased to have Benjamin on board for such a structured programme and we will ensure he has every opportunity to perform at his best with our full support,” said MS Munaretto team manager Alex Munaretto. “As always, we will do everything possible to provide him with the best conditions, just as we do with all our drivers.”
Korhola, the Finnish SM2 category champion in 2023, has made three starts at ERC level.
He said: “The competition calendar that we've built is a dream come true. It's a great opportunity to get to drive a lot and show your skills. We made a lot of improvement last year. This year we’re going to get results and not just experience, so we have to find the speed right away. The European championship is a big challenge, but the Italian asphalt series supports this well, since we get a lot of kilometres on asphalt.”
Pacco Motorsport team manager Kimmo Koivunen added: “Benjamin’s driving improved so much last year that no miracles have to be done to achieve notable results. The ERC brings us new events and has the emphasis on asphalt, so we have to trust that the routine gained from last year's asphalt races will bear good results.”
Korhola will begin his CIRT campaign on Rally Città di Foligno from 6 - 7 March. Rally del Ciocco opens the new CIAR season from 28 - 29 March with the 73rd ERC season getting under way on 43rd Andalusia Rally - Sierra Morena - Córdoba World Heritage Site from 17 - 19 April.
Meanwhile, MS Munaretto will also continue its FIA Junior ERC Championship participation in 2026.
