Korhonen trailed Mabellini by 10.6sec at the completion of Saturday’s opening leg but cut that margin to 5.2sec by going 5.4sec quicker than his Italian rival through SS8, the 15.34 kilometres of Iszka.
Driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 on MRF tyres, Korhonen outpaced Pirelli-equipped Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 driver Mabellini by 0.1sec on the forest-heavy 10.25-kilometre Tés stage to trim Mabellini’s advantage to 5.1sec ahead of the 15.54km Nagylőtér test, which gets under way at 11:35 local time.
Behind 2024 Rally Hungary winner Simone Tempestini, Mads Østberg is up to fourth ahead of Miko Marczyk with Isak Reiersen sixth. Jakub Matulka, Martin László, Gábor Német and 2023 Junior ERC champion Norbert Maior complete the top 10 followed by new Master ERC Championship leader Jos Verstappen.
