Kreuter vowed that the 2023 season – when he turned 50 – would be his last competing outside his native Germany.
But the now 52-year-old is back for a three-round FIA European Rally Championship campaign in a Peugeot 208 Rally4 starting with this week’s ERC Staff House Rally Hungary.
“I like the ERC, the concept with the two days of rally driving, it’s the best value you can get for your money,” said Kreuter. “It’s a lot of fun with nice stages and now we have the Master ERC Championship. The big issue is we have the small car against all the other big cars, but we have to deal with this by being very constant to take some points although we only go for three rounds this year.”

Following the all-gravel ERC Staff House Rally Hungary, Kreuter plans to contest the Tarmac-based Barum Czech Rally Zlín and Croatia Rally.
“We do Hungary, Barum and Croatia,” said Kreuter. “I have seen a lot of videos of the stages in Hungary and the videos of the stages was the reason for me to decide to come to this rally because I liked what I saw. You have a little bit more space to the trees, but it’s challenging and I like this.”
Kreuter, who will be co-driven by Denmark’s Jeannette Kvick, is one of 23 drivers entered for the ERC4 section of ERC Staff House Rally Hungary with 21 of those drivers eligible for the Hankook-equipped FIA Junior ERC Championship. Only Kreuter and his fellow German Tom Kässer are not in contention for Junior ERC points on the Veszprém-based event. A Junior ERC preview will be published soon.
