Since the FIA European Rally Championship was restructured in 2004 into the hugely successful format recognisable today, an endless stream of drivers have built experience competing at ERC either at the start of or during their rise to the sport’s highest echelon, the FIA World Rally Championship.
Throughout November, FIAERC.com is highlighting 16 drivers – selected by the ERC’s media team – who have done just that. And it’s calling on fans of the championship to help decide the best of the best graduates through an online poll that opened last week and closes following the grand finale on Friday 28 November.
Employing bracketology, voting is available through the ERC’s social media channels with a minimum 24-hour window to vote for each pairing. The winner will be announced on Saturday 29 November.
Neuville v Fourmaux: Current team-mates both impressed on ERC outings
Thierry Neuville: Neuville failed to go the distance on his first ERC start in 2009 after crashing out. He returned for his second Ypres Rally outing the following season and completed the podium. The Belgian’s best result thereafter was the fourth place he scored on Barum Czech Rally Zlín in 2011. His subsequent WRC career has so far produced 21 event wins and the 2024 title.
Adrien Fourmaux: After crashing on Rally di Roma Capitale, his ERC debut in July 2020, Fourmaux completed the year on top as the winner of Rally Islas Canarias, only his second start in the championship. He’s since climbed the ranks in the WRC, becoming a podium regular and a key member of Hyundai’s factory outfit.
Voting is possible through the ERC’s media channels and a reminder to visit FIAERC.com tomorrow (Friday) to find out who’s taking part in the first ERC Greatest Graduate quarter-final.
