Eyvind Brynildsen’s triumph on BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia at the wheel of a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 also resulted in Pirelli cutting Michelin’s advantage at the top of the FIA European Rally Championship for Tyre Suppliers.
From being 35 points adrift after two rounds, Pirelli has closed to within 10 points of Michelin ahead of next week’s ORLEN OIL 81st Rally Poland. MRF Tyres is 16 points adrift of Pirelli in third with Hankook currently fourth and a further 10 points behind.
Pirelli’s victory on BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia was its third consecutive triumph on the high-speed gravel event following wins for Oliver Solberg in 2023 and 2024.
“Congratulations to Eyvind for his exceptional driving skills and the composure he showed in fending off his rivals in what remained a closely contested rally until the very end,” said Terenzio Testoni, Pirelli Rally Activity Manager. “We are extremely pleased with this first 2025 ERC win, which came only in the third event due to the misfortunes our drivers faced in earlier rallies – though we deserved it sooner. Now, our focus shifts to the upcoming events before the summer break: Poland and, above all, Rome, our home rally.”
Rain necessitated the use of the Pirelli Scorpion K8B super soft during the early stages of the Karlstad-based contest, but the tyre that ultimately secured Brynildsen’s victory was the Scorpion K6A soft, the designated prime compound for round three of the ERC season. Its proven performance and reliability on gravel, demonstrated in previous rallies, made the difference, according to the Italian manufacturer.
MRF-equipped Roope Korhonen (Toyota GR Yaris Rally2) and Hankook-shod Isak Reiersen (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) completed the podium with Henning Solberg topping the FIA Master ERC order on Pirelli tyres.
Tymek Abramowski won FIA ERC3 driving a Pirelli-supplied Ford Fiesta Rally3. Victor Hansen used Michelin rubber to win FIA ERC4 aboard a Peugeot 208 Rally4.
