Based in Aberystwyth, Wales, from 5 - 7 September, the second JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion to host the all-action ERC consists of 12 stages over a competitive distance of 185.24 kilometres.
Starting on the morning of Friday 5 September with the new Pendam Free Practice, Qualifying Stage and Shakedown stage, a single run through the 1.25-kilometre Aberystwyth town centre stage will provide the Friday evening entertainment.
Leg one continues on Saturday 6 September with a largely all-new route made up of three repeated stages run either side of service in Aberystwyth.
Starting with the 14.30-killometre Cwm Elan test from 07:10 local time, the action continues with the new Y Diafol stage – the rally’s longest at 33.85 kilometres – from 08:10 followed by the 13.74-kilometre Mydroilyn run from 10:45. Cwm Elan, Y Diafol and Mydroilyn are due to be repeated at 13:40, 14:40 and 17:15 respectively ahead of a rerun of the Aberystwyth town centre stage from 18:30.
The deciding leg on Sunday 7 September features two double-use stages, Nant y Moch (14.00 kilometres) described by organisers as a “classic over the high-commitment, reservoir roads”, and Mynnydd Bach (15.48 kilometres), which organisers say is a “difficult countryside stage with a mix of single and double-width roads which will run as the ERC's Power Stage on the second pass.” Nant y Moch is due to run from 09:55 and 13:15 with the two passes of Mynnydd Bach scheduled for 11:05 and 15:05.
Aberystwyth Promenade will host the Ceremonial Finish from 15:45 on Sunday afternoon. Details of fan zone tickets, parking points and various community initiatives can be found at www.raliceredigion.co.uk.
Clerk of the course Andy Gilmore said: “We’re looking forward to building on the success of last year’s event with a refreshed and challenging route that encompasses the best that Ceredigion has to offer.
“Once again fans are set to witness an exciting battle as the top British drivers take on Europe’s championship stars, with some local Welsh talent also looking to capitalise on the home advantage. There’s even a new 34-kilometre stage to test crews even further.
“Roads across Ceredigion offer a unique challenge to competitors and this year’s route will also visit new areas such as Rhayader and Lampeter, allowing us to create opportunities for greater engagement with local communities and continuing to deliver significant economic benefits to the region.”
Barum Czech Rally Zlín is next up on the ERC schedule from 15 - 17 August.
