After a broken wheel rim restricted him to fifth place in the M-Sport Poland-run category on 43rd Andalusia Rally - Sierra Morena - Córdoba World Heritage Site last month, the Finn recorded a dominant victory in Sweden, heading home Craig Rahill in a 1-2 for KMS Racing.

“I’m feeling relieved,” said Vatanen, who was co-driven to his maiden ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy victory by his fellow Finn Joonas Ojala. “We achieved what we set out for, and we were able to drive our own clean rally without overdriving or pushing too hard. We also avoided punctures, and the car worked flawlessly and cooperation in the cabin was great. It was a joy to drive.”

Behind runner-up Rahill, who was a non-finisher in Spain due to a mechanical issue, ex-karter Petr Kačírek built on his fourth place on round one by completing the ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy podium ahead of opening round winner Casey Jay Coleman, who continues to head the title standings by two points ahead of Vatanen.

“The pace got a lot better and I’m a lot happier with my driving and feeling a lot more comfortable in the car,” Coleman said at the finish of his BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia debut.
Charlie Tuthill was a fine fifth on his ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy debut as Kalum Graffin rounded out the top six on the high-speed gravel event.
Cian Caldwell, Jan Pokos and Robert Proudlock were less fortunate, however, with the trio all unable to reach the finish in Karlstad. Igor Widłak was a non-starter.
