Former ERC champion Kopecký a (Czech) champion again

Jan Kopecký and Pavel Dresler will be national champions for a third season running when the FIA European Rally Championship visits their native Czech Republic next month.

Subject to final confirmation, the ŠKODA Motorsport aces cannot be caught in the battle for the 2017 Czech title following their success on Rally Bohemia recently.

“Jan and Pavel are the absolute benchmark in the Czech Rally Championship and congratulations to the whole ŠKODA team for this great result,” said ŠKODA Motorsport boss Michal Hrabánek.

Kopecký won the ERC title in 2013 and has gone on to achieve success in the world and Asia-Pacific championships as well as in his domestic series in factory-backed ŠKODAs.

Meanwhile, Barum Czech Rally Zlín takes place from 25-27 August. Before then, however, the ERC will be in Poland for Rally Rzeszow from 3-5 August.

Pepe López plans to end his FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship campaign in style as be bids to secure the coveted runner-up spot behind inaugural champion Marijan Griebel.

Kajetan Kajetanowicz had plenty of reason to celebrate at the finish of Rally di Roma Capitale – despite losing out on victory on the FIA European Rally Championship counter by 0.3s.
