16/05/2017 12:00

Kajetan Kajetanowicz says his Rally Islas Canarias podium has put him on track to fight for a record-breaking third consecutive FIA European Rally Championship title.

The LOTOS Rally Team ace finished second to Alexey Lukyanuk on the island event and now lies third in the standings, 28 behind early leader Bruno Magalhães, ahead of the next event in Greece, the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally from 2-4 June.

“I was very pleased with my driving [on Rally Islas Canarias],” said Kajetanowicz, from Poland. “For sure there is still room for improvement but we are on the right track in our fight for another championship title.”

The SEAJETS Acropolis Rally in Greece hosts round three of the 2017 FIA European Rally Championship from 2-4 June. Key event details and information appear below.

Nikolay Gryazin revved up for next week’s SEAJETS Acropolis Rally by beating Kalle Rovanperä on Rally Talsi in Latvia last weekend – by 0.74 seconds.

Marijan Griebel turned back the clock last week when he got back behind the wheel of the Opel ADAM R2 he drove to the FIA ERC Junior Championship title in 2016.

Bruno Magalhães will continue his bid for FIA European Rally Championship glory after entering next month’s SEAJETS Acropolis Rally as the top seed.

Former FIA European Rally Championship title winners Jan Kopecký and Esapekka Lappi were among the star performers on events in Czech Republic and Portugal last weekend.

Tibor Érdi Jr says winning ERC2 on Rally Islas Canarias was just what was needed in his bid to claim the FIA European Rally Championship category title.
