Kresta support boosts ERC Junior star Mareš

Filip Mareš has earned the support of one of Czech Republic’s best ever rally drivers following his impressive maiden season in the FIA European Rally Championship.

Mareš, part of the ACCR Czech Team, which is backed by his country’s motorsport federation, challenged for the ERC Junior U27 title up until the final round in Latvia and eventually placed a strong third in the final table.

Roman Kresta, a former factory driver in the world championship, singled out Mareš for his huge potential as Mareš explained.

He said: “Roman Kesta called me the biggest hope of Czech rally sport and this is very important for me.”

Alexey Lukyanuk’s impromptu alliance with Hugo Magalhães proved to be a big success when they won Rallye de Tierra de Astorga in Spain yesterday.

FIA ERC Junior Under 27 podium finisher Karel Kupec is calling on the rallying community to help his brother Radomír’s ongoing recuperation from serious injuries sustained in a rally crash earlier this year.

Jari Huttunen, who will step up to the FIA World Rally Championship WRC2 category in 2018 after finishing runner-up in the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship this season, has received yet more recognition.

Citroën’s all-new C3 R5 is set to be a contender for honours in 2018 when it will be eligible for the FIA European Rally Championship.

FIA ERC Under 27 Championship frontrunner Filip Mareš was praised after an impressive showing on Rallye du Var last month.
