No ERC joy for Huttunen but Hy (undai) times ahead
Jari Huttunen has spoken of his disappointment after losing out on the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 title to Opel team-mate Chris Ingram in a final-round decider in Latvia earlier this month.
Huttunen could have claimed the crown by taking class victory on Rally Liepāja but a double puncture on the closing leg’s opening stage all but ended the young Finn’s hopes of glory.
“I’m not happy, this rally was not going so well,” said a dejected Huttunen at the finish of the rally’s final stage. “The car was good and sometimes we were fast.”
Huttunen will turn his attentions to a dream opportunity with Hyundai Motorsport after being selected for its driver development initiative for 2017 when he will undertake a programme of world championship rallies and tests in a Hyundai i20 R5.
