No Jännerrallye in 2016

2015-06-08T00:00:00+02:00 June 8th, 2015|2015, Jännerrallye|

The Internationale Jännerrallye, which had been the opening round of the FIA European Rally Championship in recent years, will not take place in 2016.

The announcement was made by the Board of the Rallye Club Mühlviertel following an Extraordinary General Meeting in Freistadt.

The statement, in the form of a quote from the Chairman Ferdinand Staber, read: “The entire Board of Directors will put all their functions at the disposal of a newly-to- be-elected management body, provided that an election proposal, meeting the approval of the General Meeting, will be submitted by the date of the Regular General Meeting on September 18, 2015. If not, the current Board of Directors will be available to the Rallye Club Mühlviertel for one more year, but will not organize any motor sports events in the coming year and therefore also not the Internationale Jännerrallye. This approach is meant to assure the existence of the Rallye Club Mühlviertel.”

“It was a great pleasure to start the ERC season with the challenging Internationale Jännerrallye,” said ERC Co-ordinator, Jean-Baptiste Ley. “We acknowledge particular constraints over that very early event in the season, and respect the decision taken by the organising Rallye Club Mühlviertel. We are in constant discussions with event organisers, and our plans to bring the very best European rallies together in an exciting 2016 ERC calendar, with events on snow, asphalt and gravel, remain unchanged.”
