Austrian squad Baumschlager Rallye & Racing – the team behind Marijan Griebel’s FIA ERC Junior Under 28 success in 2017 – has completed orders for three all-new Volkswagen Polo GTI R5s.

Fifteen examples of the car are set to be delivered to customers in the second half of this year amid ongoing strong interest in the all-new machine.

“We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback on the Polo GTI R5,” said Sven Smeets, the Volkswagen Motorsport Director. “The customer demand is enormous. We are obviously pleased about this, and it is an additional motivation to provide the teams with the best possible rally car.”

Subject to homologation, the Polo GTI R5 could be eligible for competitive use in the ERC from Barum Czech Rally Zlín (24-26 August) onwards.
