Junior ERC best choice for young drivers, says Polášek

Daniel Polášek would recommend the FIA Junior ERC Championship in an instant to any driver aiming to progress through the international rallying ranks.

Polášek returned to the Hankook-equipped category for 2024 after a season spent competing in the Finnish championship in 2023. He reckons the variety of events on offer in Junior ERC makes it an essential part of the learning curve.

The 25-year-old said: “This championship, it’s amazing because you’ve got a lot of different gravel races and a lot of different Tarmac races. It’s definitely nice that you’ve got so much different rallying and so much different rallies. In some national championships the stages are almost the same or similar but [in Junior ERC], each year, you’ve got different stages, different rallies and that’s what’s good in ERC.”

Polášek, who is fifth in Junior ERC after five rounds, continued: “Definitely [Junior ERC is the place to come to for young drivers] but they should first gain some experience [in a national championship] before coming to Junior ERC because the competition is very high.”

Rally Silesia in Poland hosts the sixth and final round of the 2024 Junior ERC season from 11 - 13 October.
