Oprea has big plans after scoring more ERC points

Cristiana Oprea was back scoring points in the FIA European Rally Championship last month when she placed 10th among the ERC4 contenders on Barum Czech Rally Zlín.

With teenage co-driver Alexia Parteni alongside, Oprea progressed through the field following an impressive display aboard her Waldherr Motor-Sport Team Opel Corsa Rally4.

She now wants to use her outing on the penultimate round of the 2023 ERC as the platform for a full European campaign in 2024.

“Like in my previous couple of appearances in the ERC my goal was to get more seat time, this time in the Rally4 because we finally managed to make this step up,” the Romanian driver said. “It’s a gorgeous car and I Iove every kilometre driving it. We’ve been focused on the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup in the last few years but now it’s eyes on a full ERC season and during Barum we needed to prepare for next year.”

The 31-year-old continued: “We did this rally last year and it was a very good experience and in the last few years, since Rome in 2019, I focused a lot on Tarmac, mainly because of budget issues and I had to choose between the two surfaces. Also in the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup it’s only Tarmac so it’s an obvious choice for me. But next year our main goal is to also do the gravel rallies as our main target is the full ERC season and we’ve already started working on it with our sponsors and some new partners who have joined our story.”

Rally Hungary hosts the 2023 ERC decider from 6 - 8 October.
