Franceschi “ready” to fly in ERC

Mathieu Franceschi says he’s “ready to take on any challenge” in this season’s FIA European Rally Championship.

The 24-year-old has confirmed plans for a second full ERC campaign in 2024 having finished 2023 as the best-placed driver embarking on his maiden European programme.

“I am delighted to announce our return for a new rally season in the European championship with our best AMD Motorsport team,” he said. “Still behind the wheel of my trusty Škoda Fabia RS Rally 2, I can't wait to reunite with my co-driver, Andy Malfoy, for a thrilling adventure. Together, we form a superb team ready to take on any challenge.”

Franceschi, from France, stepped up to the ERC in 2023 as the reigning French gravel champion and on the back of winning all 10 rallies he tackled in 2022. He scored points on seven out of eight ERC starts to place a strong sixth in the final standings having claimed a trio of top-six finishes.

“We are ready to surpass ourselves and together write a new page in our history in the European Rally Championship,” Franceschi said. “And it is with immense honour that I continue my role as a Michelin Motorsport driver for a second consecutive year, a recognition that motivates our entire team to give the best of ourselves.

“A huge thank you to our trusted partners, ETS fuel, Winamax Brake Pads, Gt2i and ABR Performance, as well as to all our loyal partners who believe in me for this project. Your invaluable support is the key to our success.”

Franceschi’s partnership with 23-year-old co-driver Malfoy, a regular in the FIA World Rally Championship, began on Rally di Roma Capitale last July and continued on Barum Czech Rally Zlín the following month.

The 2024 ERC season consists of eight rounds and gets under way the gravel-based V Rally Hungary in Veszprém from 12 - 14 April.
