The ERC champion in 2018 and 2020, Lukyanuk finished first in Las Palmas in 2017, 2018 and 2021, having completed the 2016 event as the best-placed ERC driver behind Enrique Cruz, who wasn’t eligible for ERC points that year.
Cyprus-based Lukyanuk, 43, said: “I am happy to announce I will return to the ERC on Rally Islas Canarias hand in hand with Hyundai Canarias and the i20 Rally2 car. We’re really excited to compete on my favourite event, we’ve had massive success before so we hope to deliver a good result again.”
In addition to Rally Islas Canarias, Lukyanuk will also contest Rallye Internacional Villa de Adeje, a Spanish Rally Cup event from 28 - 29 June.
By competing in a Hyundai i20 N Rally2, Lukyanuk will increase his knowledge of Rally2 machinery having also rallied a Citroën C3, Ford Fiesta R5 and Škoda Fabia RS in the past.
Rally Islas Canarias takes place from 2 - 4 May and counts as round two of the eight-event ERC season. Carlos Sainz holds the record for the most wins with five victories to his name.
