After SS16: Sirmacis wins ERC Rally Estonia!
Ralfs Sirmacis has secured his second FIA European Rally Championship victory after Alexey Lukyanuk’s penultimate stage incident on auto24 Rally Estonia.
The 22-year-old Latvian won the final stage to finish up 1m34.5s ahead of Kajetan Kajetanowicz and take his second ERC win from three starts in his Sports Racing Technologies ŠKODA Fabia R5, and follow up his ERC Junior victory in Estonia in 2015 with overall glory 12 months later.
The winner in ERC2, Rainer Aus is set to finish on the podium for the second straight year, should he make it to the finish in Tartu on time. He has struggled with a lack of drive at the rear of his car through the final stages, and saw his margin over Raul Jeets reduced to 18.6s, but thinks the problem should not be an issue on the road section.
Miko-Ove Niinemäe has taken ERC Junior honours on home soil in seventh overall, with Marijan Griebel beating points leader Chris Ingram to second place. Click here to see live results.
