Back to where it began for ERC2 star Remennik
Sergei Remennik is returning to the scene of his first asphalt rally on round two of the FIA European Rally Championship (3-5 May).
And Remennik – a contender for ERC2 honours in his Russian Performance Motorsport Mitsubishi Lancer – admitted his first Rally Islas Canarias experience fired his love of driving on sealed surfaces alongside navigator Mark Rozin.
“Rally Islas Canarias was the first asphalt round for us last year, thanks to it I love asphalt racing and it will be great to return to these roads,” said Remennik. “Unfortunately, this year we are loaded with the main work so we didn’t have asphalt training at all: before this same rally in 2017 we drove more than 300 kilometres in testing.”
Despite his busy work schedule, Remennik is paying particular attention to his pacenote preparation for this year’s Rally Islas Canarias.
“Mark and I watched all our last year’s on-boards and figured out our mistakes. We paid attention on how well we worked together, how punctually Mark gave me information and how correctly I worked it out.”
