Disaster for Bouffier on ERC Valais opening stage
It’s been a disastrous start to the Rallye International du Valais for Bryan Bouffier, who has retired his Peugeot 208 T16 at the end of the opening stage.
The Frenchman, who hadn’t driven the 208 T16 for a long time, ran ride at a very tricky right hand corner, hitting a wall and braking the left rear wheel and brake disc.
He and co-driver Thibault de la Haye still set the fifth fastest time, but on examining the damage it was obvious it was too great to continue.
“We ran wide at a fast right corner and hit a stone wall. It was my mistake,” said Bouffier.
