London-born Zawada tried karting and then circuit racing but chose rallying after a co-driving experience with friend Kuba Wysocki. A university graduate in automotive engineering, Zawada scored points on his first two ERC Junior starts in 2014 and claimed his maiden category stage win in Northern Ireland. After engine failure robbed him of a class podium in Ypres, he bounced back by finishing a strong third in Czech Republic, a result he repeated in Switzerland. Unfortunately, an engine problem struck on the season-closer in Corsica, which meant Zawada had to settle for fifth in the final table. For his second ERC Junior season in 2015, Zawada switched to an Opel Adam R2 with support from the German manufacturer and claimed his maiden class win in Belgium. He made a solitary start in 2016 but returned for a season-long ERC Junior U27 bid in 2017 and challenged for the title, placing fourth in the points. He steps up to R5 power for 2018 for the first time.
