Lukasz Pieniazek

Date of birth : 19/09/1990

Who is he? Pieniążek remains one of Poland’s future hopes for world rally success and is currently in year two in the championship’s second tier following his graduation from ERC Junior.

So Rally Poland is something of a homecoming? Between 2015 and 2016 Pieniążek was a contender for ERC Junior honours and used the experience gained to step up to the world championship for 2017. But eager to compete on home soil, Pieniążek is returning to the ERC in the same Printsport-run ŠKODA Fabia R5 he uses at world level.

What can he achieve? “I’ve done Rally Poland on two previous occasions, in 2016 when I finished sixth in class in a Citroën DS3 R3T and last year when I drove a PEUGEOT 208 T16 to P11 in my category. However, with World Rally Cars not allowed in the ERC, this will be the first time I’ll be able to fight for the overall top spots on what is one of my favourite events.”

Before he was famous? Pieniążek had only been rallying for one full season prior to his switch to ERC Junior but he’d gained considerable experience by then having started 14 rallies in 2014.
