Rhys Yates

Date of birth : 06/05/1992

Who is he? An ex-motocross rider of note, Yates made an instant impact on his FIA European Rally Championship debut on the Azores Airlines Rallye, finishing a fine third in class with British team CA1 Sport.

Domestic duty: Although he’s rallied in Belgium, Czech Republic, France and Italy, the British championship has been priority number one for Yates, who has delivered several impressive performances on home soil.

Groan in Rome: Rally di Roma Capitale marked his second ERC Junior Under 28 appearance in July but two punctures meant he had to settle for fifth in class.

No grin in Zlín: After joining local legend Roman Kresta’s eponymous team for Barum Czech Rally Zlín had hoped to build his experience of one of the toughest asphalt events on the schedule only to retire with broken steering following an early off in difficult stage conditions.

Late deal: Yates completed a late deal to return to the Kresta Racing fold for his Rally Liepāja debut on the back of contesting the British championship season-closing Rally GB the previous weekend. He finished seventh overall and sixth in ERC Junior U28.
