Contenders count down to the ERC Fiesta Rally3 title showdown
Four drivers can win the ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy title on Barum Czech Rally Zlín. With a Ford Fiesta Rally2 prize drive from M-Sport up for grabs, here’s what the title contenders have said.
Ville Vatanen (Finland), 1st (101 points)
“It’s amazing to be in this position, we have been doing a lot of work for this and we will try to do good results here to win the Trophy. Maybe it’s the most difficult rally of the season, the stages are so bumpy, so tricky with a lot of pollution. Again, there is a lot that’s new for me, but the recce is done, the notes are good so we will try to do our best. It’s a good prize for the future to get to drive in Rally2 and the experience from that is good.”

Casey Jay Coleman (Ireland), 2nd (94 points)
“The chances are pretty good, but anything can happen this weekend. It’s a pity it’s not winner takes all so to beat Ville we need to finish two places ahead of him. But I think anything is possible. We’ll go out and drive our own rally, not do anything too differently, have a good push and see how it goes. It would be serious [to drive a Rally2 car] to be fair, I’d love to get the drive, especially with M-Sport. It would be an amazing experience for us, and we’ll do our best.”
Petr Kačírek Jr (Czech Republic), 3rd (78 points)
“For sure Ville is really fast and has been fast all season and has a good gap so he has the best position to win the Trophy. But this is my home race, and we’ll try to fight. I think the pace can be good so let’s see. Surely it would be good [to drive a Rally2 car], mega-awesome but let’s stay calm on the ground and work a lot. One day maybe.”

Kalum Graffin (Ireland), 4th (75 points)
“Mathematically we’re in contention and it would take a lot for that to happen. But still we can be impressed with our year to even be in contention. We’re happy enough and we’ll just go again this weekend. This rally is a bit similar to what we have at home, but there’s more pollution here so the second pass will be more tricky than the first pass. You definitely can’t complain about the [Rally2] prize drive, but we’ll just do our own thing and see where it leads. It’s a long rally and anything can happen.”
