The ERC media team has prepared a shortlist of five nominees for the prestigious ERC Most Improved Driver of the Year award with voting available via the ERC’s social media channels. Here’s a reminder of the five nominees.
Jon Armstrong
While Armstrong’s ability has never been in doubt, his performances during the second half of the 2025 season – including his breakthrough ERC win on JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion – have underlined a standout level of progression.
Calle Carlberg
After finishing 2024 as the Junior ERC runner-up in his debut season, Carlberg claimed title gold on Barum Czech Rally Zlín last month in highly impressive fashion to secure a Junior WRC prize drive for 2026.
Tristan Charpentier
The ex-circuit racer was fast but held back by mechanical issues as he tried but didn’t quite succeed in his pursuit of the ERC3 and ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy titles.
Miko Marczyk
Currently ahead of Andrea Mabellini – voted ERC Most Improved Driver in 2023 and 2024 – in the race to become European champion, Marczyk has become a far more consistent and formidable performer than ever before in 2025.
Martin Vlček
From early season podium finisher, Vlček has been the driver to beat in the Master ERC category with back-to-back victories to move to the head of the title order.
As well as the Livery of the Year and Most Improved Driver of the Year polls, there will also be the opportunity to vote for the Quote of the Year, Drive of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the coming days. All votes close at 18h00 CET on 22 September. The awards will be presented at the ERC Awards night in Croatia on 5 October.
