Team MRF Tyres still in the driving seat in ERC Teams’ title battle
Team MRF Tyres remains on course to win the FIA European Rally Championship for Teams for a fourth time after it increased its lead from 42 to 44 points ahead of next month’s season decider.
After six rounds, Team MRF Tyres has 179 points compared to the 135 banked by The Racing Factory - Motorsport Solutions so far in 2026, including 30 for winning JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion with Teemu Suninen and Antti Haapala.
However, The Racing Factory - Motorsport Solutions would need to field an additional entry on its home event, Rally Six Cities North of Portugal, to have a chance of winning the coveted crown.
Team MRF Tyres moved 44 points clear thanks to the combined efforts of Erik Cais and Simone Tempestini on JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion. Cais scored 17 points got Team MRF Tyres on the asphalt event with Tempestini landing 15 points for the squad.

“It has been a special rally for us because we really love the country and the scenery,” said Czech driver Cais. “It was probably one of the toughest events I have ever done, but also one of the most beautiful. A big thank you to all my partners and to MRF Tyres who have given me the opportunity to compete in the FIA ERC this season. There is a lot we can take from this rally in terms of information and experience for the future, and I really hope to have the chance to come back here again.”

Tempestini, a multiple Romanian champion, added: “It was a really difficult and demanding weekend. We know our pace was not where we wanted it to be, and, of course, it is never easy when you look at the times. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the stages and we worked hard throughout the rally to improve. It was also a valuable opportunity to learn, gather useful information and understand where we can make another step. We know we have the potential to be stronger, and now the focus is on using everything we learned here for the future.”
