ERC Junior Adielsson targets better road position in Poland

2019-06-25T11:29:48+01:00June 25th, 2019|2019, PZM 76th Rally Poland|

Mattias Adielsson will be hoping to secure a better road position on PZM 76th Rally Poland – in order to show his true pace in the FIA ERC1 Junior Championship.

Sweden National Team’s Adielsson was hampered by running higher up the order on the all-gravel Rally Liepāja last month, losing considerable time as a result of having to ‘clean’ a more consistent surface for the drivers running behind.

With the Mikołajki event also running on gravel-only stages, starting position will again be a key factor for Adielsson and his R5 category rivals. That will place a major onus on the results of Friday’s Qualifying Stage, which help to decide the top 15 starting positions for the rally’s opening leg.

“I enjoyed Latvia very much but hopefully we will have a better start position this time and we will see how competitive we can be,” said Adielsson, who drives a Saintéloc-runCitroën C3 R5. “We are aiming for a podium in ERC Junior of course and it would be nice to do it on this rally because it’s similar to the rallies we have in Sweden.”

Adielsson is a Rally Poland newcomer but has an understanding of what lies ahead. “It will be great to do this rally,” he said. “They are really fast roads, some nice jumps, kind of my type of road.”
