ERC Junior Černý lands Czech podium

FIA ERC Junior Under 28 event winner Jan Černý was on podium form in his native Czech Republic yesterday.

He placed second overall on the CBS Carbosped Mikuláš Rally in a ŠKODA Fabia R5 co-driven by Petr Černohorský.

Of the five stages that made up the Slušovice-based event, Černý was fastest on one and second quickest three times. Martin Vlček took the outright victory in a Ford Fiesta R5. European Rally Championship regulars Grzegorz Grzyb and Antonín Tlusťák finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Černý contested the inaugural ERC Junior U28 Championship in 2017 with backing from the Czech motorsport federation. He took a category win on Rally di Roma Capitale in September.

Alexey Lukyanuk’s impromptu alliance with Hugo Magalhães proved to be a big success when they won Rallye de Tierra de Astorga in Spain yesterday.

FIA ERC Junior Under 27 podium finisher Karel Kupec is calling on the rallying community to help his brother Radomír’s ongoing recuperation from serious injuries sustained in a rally crash earlier this year.

Jari Huttunen, who will step up to the FIA World Rally Championship WRC2 category in 2018 after finishing runner-up in the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship this season, has received yet more recognition.

Citroën’s all-new C3 R5 is set to be a contender for honours in 2018 when it will be eligible for the FIA European Rally Championship.
