Pepe López will resume his bid for the inaugural FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship in Poland next month boosted by words of support from rallying legend Carlos Sainz.

Spaniard Sainz drove the Peugeot Rally Academy 208 T16 López campaigns in the ERC during a promotional event for Red Bull in Portugal recently (pictured) and used the opportunity to extend his backing to his younger compatriot, currently three points behind ERC Junior Under 28 leader Marijan Griebel.

“I wish him the very best of luck for the rest of his European Rally Championship programme with the Peugeot Rally Academy,” said Sainz, the two-time world champion.

As well as competing for Peugeot in cross-country events, Sainz is an ambassador of the brand and is mentoring López and team-mate José Suárez in ERC Junior.
