ERC King Kajto continues world adventure
Record-breaking FIA European Rally Championship graduate Kajetan Kajetanowicz will continue his world adventure in Germany next week, swapping gravel for Tarmac in his LOTOS Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5.
Kajetanowicz became the first driver in history to win three ERC titles in succession when he took the prestigious regional crown for a third time in 2017. Since then he’s secured a step up to the world championship, making his debut on Rally Italia Sardegna in June where he finished seventh in class.
The sealed-surface ADAC Rallye Deutschland is next up on the Pole’s schedule and it’s a challenge he’s ready to embrace.
“This is an enormous challenge,” said Kajetanowicz. “However, we are well prepared and we will try to show good speed on some stages but we always keep our target in mind and we pursue it dutifully, step by step. This round is the closest one to Poland. During test plenty of supporters promised that we would meet on the stages. The feeling of support given by fantastic Polish fans always gives me additional strength.”
He continued: “The stages consist of very narrow corners, unseen at places, with plenty of crests. Tarmac, or concrete in many sections, destroys the tyres a lot. The brakes also suffer and high temperatures, prevailing in Europe at the moment, might cause additional problems.”
ADAC Rallye Deutschland takes place from 16-19 August, one week prior to the ERC-counting Barum Czech Rally Zlín.
Did you know? Kajetanowicz is one of 43 drivers with ERC event experience competing on ADAC Rallye Deutschland, proof of the championship’s primary function as a platform for drivers stepping up from national level aiming for the top.
