Weekend round-up: ERC crews in action

It was another winning weekend for FIA European Rally Championship-registered crews across the continent.

As the season finale in Spain (20 - 22 October) edges closer, several teams were in action and brought home silverware at national level.

Andrea Mabellini had a late call-up to drive a Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo at Rally Valle Imagna in his native Italy. The youngster didn’t disappoint and, partnered by co-driver Virginia Lenzi, won five out of six special stages to clinch victory by 15.5sec.

Across the water in Sardinia, Rachele Somaschini brought her Citroën C3 Rally2 home in 11th overall at Rally dei Nuraghi e del Vermentino. The 28-year-old had been knocking on the door of a top-10 finish before suffering a puncture in the final stage.

In the Czech Republic, Adam Březík and Martin Vlček netted podium results at Futures Contproduct Rally Morava. Březík headed the field after winning every single stage in his Fabia while Vlček was third in a Hyundai i20 R5.

Estonian youngster Gregor Jeets scored his second-consecutive victory in a Škoda at Paide Ralli. ERC3 frontrunner Kaspar Kasari drove a Ford Fiesta Rally3 in the gravel fixture and placed fourth overall as well as first in class.

ERC Open leader Joan Vinyes swapped his Suzuki Swift R4LLY S for an ex-works Seat Ibiza Kit Car at Andorra Rally Fullslip. It was a successful weekend for Vinyes as he took the spoils by almost 1min 30sec.
