Érdi Jr fast on ERC step-up
Tibor Érdi Jr stepped up from the ERC2 category to the FIA European Rally Championship’s big league in Liepāja earlier this month – and was unlucky not to finish in the top 10.
Érdi Jr was driving his newly-acquired ŠKODA Fabia R5 on Latvia’s ERC season closer. Although he wasn’t eligible for championship points under the terms of his registration, the Hungarian clocked several top-10 stage times as he adapted to the Czech machine on the high-speed gravel event.
“We are very happy to finish and not crash the car,” said Érdi Jr, who made it back-to-back FIA ERC2 titles this season*. “The times were okay for the first race. We had one puncture on the first day. If not, it would have been the top 10 [at the finish] and that’s very good. I like the car and the feeling, we learn many things here.”
