Fans to the rescue as Klausz scores in ERC Junior
Kristóf Klausz had rally fans to thank after he made it to the finish of the FIA ERC Junior Under 27 Championship season closer in a points-paying sixth position.
Klausz dropped almost 20 minutes after he went off the road on stage 10 of Rally Liepāja earlier this month. But after spectators helped to drag the Hungarian’s PEUGEOT 208 R2 back on the road, Klausz was able to finish the high-speed gravel event, which he was contesting for the fifth time.
“The stages were really good fun, really fast and we could learn a lot so it was a really good experience,” said Pirelli-equipped Klausz. “We got closer and closer to the frontrunners so this was a really good learning process, we kept improving and the car was working perfectly. Then on stage 10 we had a right corner, it was too narrow we go a bit faster and we were sliding on the left side of the car. After we go into a ditch and stay there for almost 20 minutes. Spectators had to pull us out. But now were in the finish and I hope it will be better for us for the next year.”
