Good ERC experienced gained for Magalhães in Valais
Bruno Magalhães came to the Rallye International du Valais to gain experience of the demanding alpine asphalt roads, and that’s what the Portuguese ace achieved, despite a fairly troublesome event in his Delta Racing-run Peugeot 208 T16.
Hopes of a top result disappeared when Magalhães hit a bridge on SS6, breaking a wheel and the suspension and losing five minutes crawling to the end of the stage. But gaining experience of the Swiss asphalt event was his main aim, and he did just that – despite finishing a lowly 13th after a late transmission problem.
“It was a very difficult rally,” admitted Magalhães. “We broke the transmission and finished the last stage, and a little bit of the previous one, with only three-wheel drive. We don’t know exactly what the problem was, but that is okay because we finished, because it was very important to get some knowledge of the rally. This rally is really, really difficult, and we now have a lot of information if we come back one day. We made a good job with the pace notes and we have onboard videos, so for sure when we return we will be much faster.”
