Hirschi hopes Valais jump hasn’t dented his ERC chances
Jonathan Hirschi hopes he hasn’t damaged the fuel system in his Peugeot 208 T16, after landing heavily after the famous Rallye International du Valais jump.
The Swiss driver is 10th after the second leg of his home round of the 2015 FIA European Rally Championship, after fighting back from losing two minutes after hitting a bridge and breaking a wheel on SS6.
“Our second loop today was not so bad,” said Hirschi. “We did some good stage times in SS8 and SS9. In SS10 we lost a bit of time due to some small fuel pressure issues. We flew very high on the famous jump, so I hope that nothing has moved inside the fuel tank. On the last stage we lost a bit of concentration, we were scared of running out of fuel in a narrow section and to jeopardise the stage. We had some issues on the initial downhill part of the stage, but then it was okay. I keep my fingers crossed and have a closer look at it during service tomorrow morning.”
