Juhász fulfilling a dream with ERC debut
FIA European Rally Championship debutant Csaba Juhász is fulfilling a “dream” by competing on Rally di Roma Capitale, having been inspired by watching Eurosport’s television coverage of the series.
Juhász has three class championship titles under his belt in native Hungary and is making his first foray into international-level rallying, competing in FIA ERC’s production category, ERC2, this weekend.
Having admired ERC from afar through his television set, Juhász was excited to finally be participating in the series, driving his family-run Mistubishi Lancer Evolution X.
“It was my dream to run in the European Rally Championship. We saw it on Eurosport many years ago and now we’re trying it,” said Juhász.
Though he has prior asphalt rallying experience, Juhász’s ERC debut presents an entirely new challenge after 15 years of rallying in his homeland.
When asked if Rally di Roma Capitale’s roads were anything like what he had experience in Hungary, he replied “No, totally different. [It’s] very difficult and very hard. We’ve done some rallies in Italy but not like this.”
Though he has only completed Thursday’s free practice runs and Qualifying Stage so far, Juhász is already keen for more ERC action, with plans in place to attempt another entry this season on Rally Poland, circumstances allowing.
