Margaillan keen on ERC future

French talent Hugo Margaillan wants to try the FIA European Rally Championship for real in 2019 with an ERC Junior Under 27 campaign in the planning.

Margaillan and co-driver Sébastien Poujol scooped the ‘junior’ section of the 208 Rally Cup in their homeland this season and also enrolled in the ERC Junior Experience training programme.

“The ERC Junior Experience helped me a lot to progress,” said Margaillan, 22. “It’s a really great training, very well framed with workshops, very well targeted for the evolution of the crew. For next year we will be engaged in ERC Junior driving [a PEUGEOT] 208 R2.”

Of his PEUGEOT one-make title success, which came following a ninth-place finish on Rallye Terre des Cardabelles last month, Margaillan added: “I am very happy to have won this title, it’s rewarding a whole year of work. We are much more serene for the end of the season and will be able to go to the last event, Rallye du Var, without pressure.”

Prior to Rallye du Var, Margaillan and Poujol will contest Rallye Terre de Vaucluse from 10-11 November, stepping up to a Citroën C3 R5 for the occasion.
