ERC title winner Pardo primed for Rally2 step

Javier Pardo will transfer his talent from Rally2 Kit to Rally2 in this season’s FIA European Rally Championship.

The ERC2 champion from 2021 is switching to a Škoda Fabia Rally2 for what’s planned as a learning year at the ERC’s highest level alongside long-term co-driver Adrián Pérez.

And it will be a busy year for the Spanish rising star with a domestic programme for Suzuki Motor Ibérica aboard its Suzuki Swift R4lly S also on his schedule.

The outfit guided Pardo and Pérez to an unprecedented tally of six ERC2 wins from six starts last season and has given the pair special permission to undertake an ERC1 campaign.

“Although I still don't think all of this has been achieved, I'm looking forward to driving again and giving my best to thank all this support with good results,” said Pardo, 25. “Thank you Suzuki Motor Ibérica for allowing me to participate with another brand in the ERC, and the Galician institutions for continuing to support me. Of course, also to the rest of the sponsors and collaborators who have managed to carry out this project.”

Pardo, who lists Xunta de Galicia through Xacobeo 21-22 and Ourense Thermal province among his sponsors for 2022, will carry out a testing programme ahead of his first planned ERC appearance in a Rally2 car on Rally Serras de Fafe - Felgueiras - Cabreira e Boticas in northern Portugal from 11-13 March.
