Triple threat for revamped ERC3 opener

A trio of challengers will compete for victory in the new-look ERC3 category at Rally Serras de Fafe - Felgueiras - Cabreira e Boticas this week (11 - 13 March).

Overhauled for 2022, FIA ERC3 is the proving ground for drivers in four-wheel drive Rally3 machinery. With the field expected to grow in size as the season develops, the entry for round one consists exclusively of M-Sport Poland-built Ford Fiesta Rally3 cars.

Dmitry Feofanov tops the list in a switch from the Suzuki Swift Rally2 Kit which carried him to second in ERC2 last season. The 39-year-old has contested this rally twice previously and also drove Rallijs Sarma in Latvia earlier this year to get acclimatised to his new Fiesta.

Igor Widłak heads to Fafe as one of the favourites for victory. The Pole, unlike his rivals, has vast experience of Rally3 machinery having completed a seven-round campaign with a Ford in 2021. He spent the off-season getting tips from fellow countryman Miko Marczyk, who finished third overall in the ERC last year.

After impressing on two ERC outings with front-wheel drive power last year, Estonia’s Kasper Kasari completes the entry in a Fiesta prepared by Ott Tänak’s OT Racing outfit.
