Sesks targets further ERC outings

Rising star Martins Sesks wants to build on his rally-winning form at future FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) rounds this season.

The Latvian has showed impressive speed behind the wheel of a Proracing Rally Team Skoda Fabia Rally2 Kit, which he used to take a dominant ERC Open victory at the recent Azores Rallye.

Sesks’ original aim was to drive the car at the opening two rounds - which he has completed - with any further outings still to be decided.

However, speaking to FIAERC.com, he confirmed that plans are progressing for him to compete at Rally Islas Canarias next month (12 - 14 May).

“We will be in the Canaries - that, I think, is for sure” he said. “How, and with what options we will get, I don’t know. But I think we will be there one way or another.

“We had already planned these first rallies, and now we need to see how we will work everything out for the next round.

“There’s still some time to go [before round three], so we are still working on all the options and trying everything we can. From one side, it’s a really good feeling to feel free about what we can do, and I’m sure we can make the most out of it again.”

The championship will also visit Sesks’s home city in July for Rally Liepaja. He finished third on the event with a Fabia R5 in 2019 and didn’t rule out a potential upgrade to Rally2 machinery for this year’s counter either.

“That's what I'm thinking about more and more,” he admitted. “Coming to the Azores, we didn’t have so much experience of four-wheel drive cars, but I think we managed it really well.

“For sure, I'm really starting to think that we could be really competitive on rallies like Liepaja and Poland as well. We know that we can do good results, no matter which car we drive, so I think we could do really, really good out there.”
