The Italian driver starts round three - which kicks-off tomorrow evening in Las Palmas - 12th in the standings following a troublesome start to the season.
Suspension issues ruled him and co-driver Tania Canton out of the season opener in Fafe, while brake issues during the Azores Rallye dented hopes of a top-five finish.
Although Campedelli hasn’t set himself any specific goals for the championship’s first all-asphalt fixure, he told FIAERC.com that he plans to push to the maximum.
“I don't have too many expectations because I just want to enjoy the driving,” he explained. “I’m just going to jump in the car and give everything that I have on every kilometre.
“We want to push and see where is our limit on Tarmac and at the end of the rally we will see where we are [in the results].
“The roads here are amazing and I think that this is one of the most beautiful rallies in the world on Tarmac. We want to enjoy and be positive and go maximum,” he added.
Campedelli has every reason to be upbeat. His sealed-surface pace in previous years has been impressive, and he posted several top-three stage times at Rally Islas Canarias in 2021.
He also won Rallye Elba - an Italian championship round - just a few weeks ago whilst gathering data for the development of MRF’s asphalt rubber.
“We are also contesting the Italian Tarmac championship this year, because we have a target to develop the new tyres coming from MRF,” said the 35-year-old.
“The first rally was really positive because we won immediately against our big competitors like Pirelli and Michelin and made these achievements. We know that the road is still long, but the starting point is really, really good.”
