Soria headlines Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT entry in Latvia

Paulo Soria has his sights set on victory in round three of the Clio Trophy by Toksport WRT at Rally Liepāja (1 - 3 July).

The Argentine has enjoyed a flawless season so far, taking victory on both sealed and loose surface events in the Azores and Canary Islands.

Those two wins have earned Soria a 17 point advantage in the one-make Renault Clio Rally5 series with three rounds to go, and a similar result in Liepāja would go a long way in terms of strengthening his title bid.

Last year, however, Soria retired on the very first stage after going off the road and into a ditch. Whilst the 27-year-old is keeping one eye on the championship target, he’s also concentrating on avoiding any slip-ups.

“I am really, really excited to get going,” Soria told FIAERC.com. “We’re back on gravel, which is my favourite surface, although last year we didn’t have a good result here.

“We had to restart after going off on the first stage. That was very frustrating, but hopefully this year we can have the chance to go through with a clean run,” he added.

Giorgio Cogni and Sergio Fuentes are Soria’s closest title challengers. The pair are level on points with two podiums apiece and will both be pushing hard to get a victory under their belts.

Emre Hasbay and Andrea Mazzocchi also form part of the field, with youngsters Patrik Herczig and Ghjuvanni Rossi rounding off the entry.
