Giant-killing Virves returns for ERC3 push

Robert Virves returns to the FIA European Rally Championship this week to fight for ERC3 category honours at Rally di Roma Capitale (22 - 24 July).

The Estonian driver took the all-Ford Fiesta Rally3 class by storm on his last outing at ORLEN 78th Rally Poland, winning the category by over five minutes as well as finishing a mighty 13th overall.

Now, Virves returns to the fray with new co-driver Hugo Magalhães alongside. The pair’s car will again be run by M-Sport Poland.

Virves should be on fine form. Last weekend he finished second overall in the FIA Junior WRC at Rally Estonia and broke the record - previously held by Sébastien Ogier - for the most stage wins in a single rally (17).

Championship leader Igor Widlak carries a 34-point advantage over Kaspar Kasari into this week’s fixture. With Kasari missing from the entry, another solid haul of points would bring the Pole one step closer to lifting the crown.

Lebanese driver Nassib Nassar rounds off the entry on his championship debut. Nassar has a wealth of experience of rallying in his native country but has only contested one previous event in Europe.
