Talent Factory champion Tempestini gets Michelin tyre boost

Simone Tempestini has earned himself a huge boost for the final two rounds after being crowned 2022 ERC-Michelin Talent Factory champion.

First launched in 2021, the ERC-Michelin Talent Factory is free to enter for drivers in Rally2 cars under the age of 28 competing on Michelin tyres.

The series concluded at last weekend’s Rally di Roma Capitale, with Škoda Fabia Rally2 hotshot Tempestini emerging on top of the race to Rome.

In recognition of his achievements, the Romanian driver will receive 32 Michelin tyres for use on the final two events of the year.

Tempestini, his co-driver Sergiu Itu, and one team member will also be invited to the Michelin headquarters in Clermont-Ferrand, France, for an exclusive VIP visit and the opportunity to meet key personnel from the company’s motorsport division.

“I am really happy with this,” Tempestini told FIAERC.com. “We are really proud of this performance and I am sure it will be a huge support to help me participate in the final two rounds of the championship.

“This incentive is very important for young drivers and I always like to drive with Michelin tyres,” he continued. “They work well in all surfaces and in all conditions and, as a driver, they make it very easy to control the car when the grip is changing.

“For me, it’s a good thing that we drive with these tyres and I am happy that we have the possibility to win this series.”

Tempestini is currently second overall in the ERC championship standings. He still has a mathematical chance of taking the title despite trailing Efrén Llarena by 58 points.
