Pellier has been a force to be reckoned with so far in this year's series and, with three wins from four starts, he currently tops the tables by six points from Spanish youngster Óscar Palomo.
Victory in the Czech Republic later this month would see the Opel Corsa Rally4 driver crowned champion - a title which comes with a four-round prize drive in next year’s FIA Junior WRC.
Speaking to FIAERC.com after his Rally di Roma Capitale win, Pellier put his recent success down to thorough preparation and admitted he doesn’t want to get ahead of himself.
“It’s been a pretty good year, for sure,” he said. “We always try to work well and prepare correctly for the rallies, but like you saw [when we rolled] in Latvia, it’s still possible to make mistakes.
“Nothing is ever won before the rally, and in every kilometre something could happen. You never know before the start if you are going to be a winner or if you will crash or have problems, but okay, we are fully balanced.
“Myself and Marine (Pelamourgues, co-driver) are working very well together with the team and we always feel confident before the events - maybe that’s the secret,” he added.
The 27-year-old has contested Barum Czech Rally Zlín twice previously. In 2018 he steered an R5-specification Peugeot 208 to 10th overall, while last year he was the winner in the Opel e-Rally Cup contingent.
“The last time I said we just need to keep good points for the championship was in Latvia, and we rolled,” he laughed.
“I really enjoy this rally, so let’s see. I started this event with Peugeot four years ago and also last year. I really like the stages so if we can win, we will go for it I think.”
