With closest rival Kaspar Kasari not starting this penultimate round, the Polish pairing were left with an impenetrable points lead and wrapped up the ERC3 series with two rounds still to complete.
They celebrated the victory with their KG-RT squad earlier today (Friday) at a special podium held before the ceremonial start.
“It’s a perfect feeling,” said Widlak. “I didn’t expect this at the start of the season - I wanted to fight for it, but I didn’t expect it and I want to thank all the people who have supported me with this.
“Every rally is different and every rally is difficult, but I have certainly learned a lot this year. I want to try to keep moving up next season,” he added.
Widlak, who drives an M-Sport Poland-built Ford Fiesta Rally3, has contested every single rally so far this season. He clinched a standout victory at Rally Islas Canarias and has only finished outside the top three on each occasion.
